The Daliangshan region in Sichuan was the last area in China to be officially lifted out of poverty. When I arrived, I was confronted with a level of poverty that far exceeded anything I had imagined. In a world that prides itself on modernity and progress, I discovered that some families here still lived without even the most basic necessity— electric light. The realization left me both shocked and deeply troubled. In an instant, the stark divide between wealth and poverty in our society became painfully clear. The mountains, shrouded in darkness at night, created isolation and daily hardships, particularly for older people. The lack of light was more than an inconvenience-it symbolized the many disparities that continue to exist.

Moved by what I saw, I decided to bring light to these families. I began installing solar lights in their homes to illuminate their nights and offer a small measure of comfort and dignity. Each light installed became a symbol of hope, a way to bridge the gap between two vastly different worlds. Through the lens of my camera, these moments of light shining in the darkness became more than an act of charity-they became a quiet testament to resilience, a reminder of the power of human connection in the face of inequality.
